Summary: Emma Lane’s forced to face her fears when her mother unceremoniously dumps her on the doorstep of Camp Mapplewood, abandoning her for the summer while she heads off on a cruise with her latest husband. It’s the last place Emma wants to be with scary creatures, creepy crawlies, and much that can go bump in the night. When Emma breaks into the tool shed on her first day there, the fall out from her escapades leads her right into the path of her counsellor, Vivian Black. . . . My Review: I was very excited to read an LGBTQ+ ARC, and this book looked promising, but it didn’t live up to my expectations. If Emma’s actions happened in real life, she would be in major trouble. It’s just not realistic. Maybe that’s the point-to live out your wild fantasies of getting back at bullies through Emma-but it just doesn’t resonate well with me. The characters feel static and flat or overinflated. It’s too unrealistic for me. I couldn’t connect with the characters. I just didn’t care about them. The book felt plotless and undriven. The subplots were just annoying. This felt like a teen’s first Wattpad book. It just didn’t keep my attention and it was unbearably hard to finish. 1/5 star read. My Favorite Line(s):
